Blinken Talks With Egyptian FM Abdelatty 6 August

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to discuss the latest diplomatic efforts to reduce regional tensions. Secretary Blinken reiterated that all parties should refrain from actions that would escalate the conflict. The Secretary and Foreign Minister discussed the importance of continuing work to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza through a deal that would secure the release of hostages, surge humanitarian assistance, alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, and unlock the possibility of broader regional stability. The Secretary emphasized that finalizing a ceasefire agreement for Gaza is of the highest priority to the United States and thanked the Foreign Minister for Egypt's ongoing efforts to achieve one.
