Blinken Talks With Mauritian PM Jugnauth

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth to discuss the strong U.S.-Mauritius partnership and our shared goal of enhancing security and prosperity for our people and the region. Secretary Blinken and Prime Minister Jugnauth discussed ongoing formal talks between the United Kingdom and Mauritius on the status of the island of Diego Garcia and the surrounding territory which includes the site of the joint U.S.-UK military facility which plays a vital role in Indo-Pacific and global security.

Secretary Blinken expressed strong support for the progress made in the ongoing UK-Mauritius negotiations, and highlighted continued close collaboration with Mauritius on a wide range of bilateral, regional, and multilateral issues.
