Blinken, UAE Foreign Minister Discuss Relations 11 December

As stated by Spokesperson Matthew Miller:

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Emirati Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Secretary and the Foreign Minister discussed the situation in Syria and the importance of maintaining Syria's institutions, key services, and protections for civilians, particularly vulnerable communities. The Secretary reaffirmed U.S. support for an accountable Syrian government that is led by Syrians and emphasized the need to facilitate the flow of humanitarian assistance, prevent Syria from being used as a base for terrorism or posing a threat to its neighbors, and ensuring chemical weapons stockpiles are secured and destroyed. The Secretary emphasized that it is incumbent on all opposition groups who seek a role in Syria to demonstrate their commitments to the rights of all Syrians.

The Secretary and the Prime Minister also discussed implementation of the cessation of hostilities between Israel and Lebanon and support to the Lebanese Armed Forces.
