Kiama Council welcomes the resolution of the Industrial Relations Commission (IRC) dispute regarding the transition of Blue Haven Bonaira staff to new owners Hall & Prior.

CEO Jane Stroud said the United Services Union had withdrawn its dispute with the IRC, joining the Health Services Union and Nurses and Midwives Association in lodging a consent application with the Commission today.

"I want to sincerely thank all three unions for their willingness to engage and collaborate with Kiama Council on what is a fundamental part of the Blue Haven transition," Ms Stroud said.

"Council resolved back in 2022 that any sale of Blue Haven must ensure staff have continuity of employment and retain their leave entitlements."

"That includes any alternate employment needing to equal to their current conditions."

"We have never wavered from this commitment."

Ms Stroud said having union consent was critical in Council applying for the IRC to allow the transition of Blue Haven staff to Hall & Prior.

"This is a major milestone in this major undertaking and moves us closer to the final settlement of the sale."

"It's also pleasing to have this matter resolved for the peace of mind and ongoing wellbeing of the staff who do such a great job for our Blue Haven residents."

The final settlement of the sale to Hall & Prior is expected to occur by the end of February.
