Kiama Council and LG NSW today met with the three unions representing Blue Haven staff at the Industrial Relations Commission.
The unions raised concerns about the letters of offer to staff from Hall and Prior, who are purchasing Blue Haven.
Council and LG NSW wants to make clear signing a letter of offer does not affect the right of staff to receive acceptable alternative employment.
This condition was negotiated with each of the unions and stipulated in the sale contract with Hall and Prior.
Staff who sign a letter of offer remain employees of Kiama Council until the Industrial Relations Commission agrees that the offers provide acceptable alternative employment.
Council and the unions have agreed to meet in Kiama on Friday to discuss the matters raised, including the letters of offer.
CEO Jane Stroud said the care and wellbeing of Blue Haven residents and staff remains the first priority for Kiama Council.
"Council has always required any sale of Blue Haven to ensure staff have continuity of employment and retain their leave entitlements," Ms Stroud said.
"In short, the terms of any alternate employment need to equal to the current conditions enjoyed by our staff."
"We have never wavered from this commitment since it was made a formal resolution of Council when deciding to sell Blue Haven."
"Ensuring the smooth transfer of all of our valued staff across to Hall & Prior also ensures the continued of care for our Blue Haven Bonaira residents."
Settlement of the sale remains on track for February 2025.
