Body Found After House Burnt Down At Collarenebri

An investigation is underway after the body of a man was found following a house fire in the state's north-west earlier this week.

Emergency services were called to a property on Boora Road, Collarenebri, about 12.50pm on Monday (10 June 2024), following reports a house had burnt down.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and located a body at the scene.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted in coming days to determine cause of death and confirm identity; however, the occupant, a 51-year-old man, remains unaccounted for.

Officers from Central North Police District are working with specialist fire investigators to determine the cause of the fire.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
