Body Found Amid Auburn Shooting Probe

A man's body has been located by police investigating two shootings in Auburn overnight.

Shortly before 10pm on Tuesday (20 August 2024), emergency services were called to Antwerp Street, Auburn, following reports shots had been fired into a home during a domestic incident.

Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command attended and were told a man, known to the occupants, had attempted to gain entry to the home before firing a shot.

No one was injured, and the man fled before police arrived.

A crime scene was established, and police commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

About 10.10pm, officers were called to Mona Street, Auburn, following reports a man had been shot while in his vehicle.

Police have been told the 55-year-old was confronted by an unknown man who then fired a shot at the car, striking him in his neck.

Ambulance NSW paramedics attended, and the man was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

The incidents are believed to be linked and a second crime scene was established on Mona Street.

During a subsequent extensive search of the area, police located the body of a man in Duck Creek, Auburn, shortly after 2.15am (Wednesday 21 August 2024).

A firearm was also located at the scene and seized for forensic examination.

While the investigation is ongoing, the man's death isn't being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

There is no ongoing risk to the public.
