Body Found During Search Of Murrumbidgee River

The body of a man has been located during the search for a missing swimmer in the Murrumbidgee River.

Just after 2pm on Sunday (26 January 2025), a man was reportedly seen to fall from a recreational floating device that was being towed behind a boat on the Murrumbidgee River at Darlington Point.

When he failed to resurface and could not be located, emergency services were notified.

Officers attached to Murrumbidgee Police District responded, with assistance from NSW Ambulance, State Emergency Service (SES) and Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA) who commenced a search for the missing 37-year-old man.

The search was later suspended and recommenced at 7.30am yesterday (Monday 27 January 2025) with NSW Police divers attending.

The search resumed at 7.30am today (Tuesday 28 January 2025), again involving NSW Police, SES and VRA with the body of a man located about 8.10am.

The body was recovered, and a crime scene has been established. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
