Police have located a body while searching for a man missing in the Blue Mountains.
The 78-year-old was last seen about 8.30am yesterday (Friday 6 September 2024) on Balmoral Road, Leura.
When he could not be located or contacted, officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command were notified and commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.
Following inquiries, the man's vehicle was located in the Wentworth Falls Lake area, where a land and air search was conducted, with assistance from Police Rescue, PolAir, Dog Unit and SES crews.
About 4.30am today (Saturday 7 September 2024), the body of a man was found nearby.
While it is yet to be formally identified, the body is believed to be that of the missing man.
Initial inquiries indicate the death is not suspicious and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
