Body Located In Search For Missing Swimmer At Dubbo

A body has been located in the search for a boy missing in the Macquarie River in the state's Orana region.

About 5.50pm yesterday (Monday 3 February 2025), emergency services were called to the Macquarie River, near Sandy Beach Road, Dubbo, following reports of a person in the water.

Police were told a 16-year-old boy could not be sighted after he went into the water to swim at about 5.40pm.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District, with assistance from Police Rescue, SES and VRA Rescue NSW commenced a search operation which continued until 12.30pm today.

The search resumed this morning with assistance from the Police Dive Unit, Orana Mid-Western Police District officers, Youth Command, SES and VRA Rescue NSW.

About 12.30pm today (Tuesday 4 February 2025), the body of a boy was located.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
