Boland And Sutherland Return For MCG Blockbuster

Victoria has bolstered its pace attack ahead of Sunday's blockbuster against NSW at the MCG by welcoming back its all-time Sheffield Shield wicket-taker, Scott Boland.

Boland has been named in the 13-player squad and will look to play his first Shield game since February, as he prepares to push for Test selection ahead of India's tour of Australia beginning in November.

Boland was recently selected in Australia A's squad to face India A later next month in Mackay and Melbourne, alongside Fergus O'Neill, Marcus Harris and Todd Murphy.

Speaking during the week, Murphy said his side couldn't wait for Sunday's first ball, with a raft of international stars potentially lining up for both teams.

"We're so excited for Sunday," said Murphy.

"It's really good for cricket in general when you can get some of those superstars back playing. Those are the games you want to play in and it's going to be a good test for us against a strong NSW team. We're really looking forward to that challenge."

Will Sutherland returns following his century against Queensland in this week's Toyota Second XI competition after earlier being rested for workload management. Fellow century-maker, Jono Merlo, has also been included.

Matt Short and Glenn Maxwell were not considered for the Shield match but will be pushing for selection in next week's One-Day Cup fixture against NSW at CitiPower Centre on October 25.

Both matches can be seen live on Kayo, cricket.com.au and Fox Cricket with play getting underway at 10:30 AEDT.

Tickets for Sunday's match can be purchased outside Gate 2.
