Bombala Tree Removal for Wastewater Upgrades

Following an arborist report, Council has scheduled the removal of three non-native trees at the site of the new Mahratta Street wastewater pumping station currently under construction. Weather permitting, a qualified contractor will remove the trees on Thursday 14 November 2024.

Advice from the contracted arborist indicates that these trees are unlikely to survive if left in place at the construction site, and would pose a significant risk to workers and the new pumping station when complete.

As a reminder, Mahratta Street will remain closed between the intersections with Forbes Street and Plunkett Street until construction has finished later this year in December 2024, weather permitting.

This section of Mahratta Street will be reopened temporarily for the Bombala Market on Saturday 23 November 2024, before closing again until works have concluded on site.
