February has long been celebrated as a month of romance and next year there are even more reasons why.
Amanda Ianna, Registrar of the NSW Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages said there are three significant dates on the calendar, with an influx of people expected to tie the knot.
"This February there are a number of unique dates to make your wedding day even more memorable." Ms Ianna said.
"Valentine's Day is always special, but 2020 is also a leap year and offers the palindrome date of 02/02/2020 – which means the date reads the same in reverse order."
This Valentine's Day the Registry will conduct weddings in Sydney's Royal Botanic Gardens, the Manly Surf Life Saving Club and several other locations across Sydney and Wollongong, including wedding rooms at the Parramatta and Chippendale registries.
"We have more than 30 trained staff to conduct ceremonies. They'll ensure you know what to do, in a relaxed, friendly and professional environment so that you have a memorable and heartfelt personalised ceremony." Ms Ianna said.
Loved-up couples need to arrange a marriage interview with the Registry in order to lodge their Notice of Intended Marriage. This needs to be completed at least one month before the wedding date, so the last possible day for a 02/02/2020 wedding is 31 December or for a Valentine's Day wedding, by Monday 13 January.
