Book Week Magic To Inspire Young Readers

Armidale Regional Council

Armidale Regional Libraries are celebrating Book Week 2024 by embracing this year's theme of 'Reading is Magic'.

"Book Week encourages kids to be curious, to look at the world with fresh eyes," said Jennifer Watson, Council's Acting Team Leader Libraries.

"We're celebrating reading, stories, and their power to 'magically' transport us - and connect us!

"A good story provokes great conversations – not only connecting the reader with people and places through the story, but also connecting readers with each other when they have the chance to discuss what they're reading."

Book Week 2024 kicks off on August 17 and there is a full program of activity planned for Armidale and Guyra Libraries.

Two events are livestreamed State Library presentations:

  • 'Magic, Mystery and Animal Adventures' – August 21 from 10-11am
  • 'Incredibilia' Book Week Special – August 23 from 10-11am

Other activities through the week include:

  • Armidale Library - scavenger hunts (with prizes), selfie booth, 'Battle of the Books', Storytime, Teen Book Club, and Lego Club.
  • Guyra Library - scavenger hunts (with prizes), and a special Storytime event!
