A second round of a popular grant program is set to help more Tasmanian businesses unlock capital purchasing opportunities to improve business productivity and outcomes.
Minister for Small Business and Consumer Affairs, Michael Ferguson, said small businesses are the engine room of the Tasmanian economy and that's why the Tasmanian Government is backing them to the hilt.
"The $1 million Enabling Business Grant Program will deliver grants between $2,500 and $10,000 for capital purchases such as machinery, electronic payment terminals and computers," Minister Ferguson said.
"This round follows on from our highly popular Small Business Growth Strategy Grant Program," Mr Ferguson said.
"By working with our businesses to invest in their own success, we are seeing Tasmanian businesses continually have the highest survival rate in Australia, with 66.6 per cent of the businesses that were operating in June 2020 still operating in June 2024."
Mr Ferguson said the program's second round was a key part of the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future and would support small businesses to grow, adapt and innovate.
"We recognise the key role our small businesses play in our State's economy, and that's why we have committed to a second round of this important program," he said.
"The Tasmanian Liberal Government will continue to provide the necessary support to make Tasmania a great place to start, run and grow a business."
The Enabling Business Grant program opens 22 October 2024.
