The Every Doctor Every Setting Action Plan was launched in Sydney last month.
More than 100 Australian healthcare leaders gathered in Sydney for the National Leadership Alliance summit on Psychosocial Safety, highlighting the critical importance of psychosocial safety in the medical workplace and the official launch of the Every Doctor Every Setting Action Plan .
The summit, held on 21 February,was a catalyst for action - aimed at achieving healthier doctors and safer working and training environments for medical professionals, ultimately leading to better patient care.
Key moments from the summit included:
- "Hear me" Performance: The powerful play by the Hush Foundation, exploring the complex issues that arise when things go wrong in healthcare
- Expert presentations and insights from various backgrounds: Mr David Burroughs(Australian Psychological Services, Westpac Group), Ms Richelle McCausland (National Health Practitioner Ombudsman), Mr Nathan Lee (Safe Work Australia) and Mr Albert Khouri (Minter Ellison law firm)
- Panel Discussion: An engaging discussion on why Psychosocial Safety in the workplace matters
The summit highlighted the need for continued commitment and action towards achieving psychosocial safety in the medical workplace. As a result, several steps were outlined to drive this initiative forward as outlined in the summit communique. AMA President Dr Danielle McMullen, who attended the summit, highlighted the importance of environments that support wellbeing and enable quality patient care.
"This includes fostering regular conversations about mental health and promoting legislative change to support psychosocial safety," Dr McMullen said.
