Boosting Social, Economic Inclusion with Community Solutions

The Albanese Labor Government is continuing to fund projects that can deliver real and lasting change for communities with the opening of the latest grant round under the Strong and Resilient Communities Activity.

The round is open to not-for-profit, community-based organisations across all States and Territories, offering up to $360,000 over two years of funding from 2025-2027.

More than $12 million in funding is available in the latest round.

It marks the fourth round for the SARC - Inclusive Communities Activity, designed to support people on pathways to self-reliance and empowerment through local community-driven solutions.

Since 2022 the Albanese Labor Government has invested more than $47.5 million in SARC - IC grants across Australia.

Minister for Social Services Amanda Rishworth said the SARC Activity is a demonstration of the Government's commitment to supporting local, community-led organisations that understand the needs of their communities.

"The Albanese Government recognises that community-based organisations are best placed to know how to support vulnerable people to build a better future, which is why we are supporting local organisations to deliver local solutions," Minister Rishworth said.

"It's through neighbours reaching out to one another and helping where they can that we will create stronger and more resilient communities in our country and give all Australians the opportunity to thrive."

The funding will allow organisations to deliver one-off, time-limited new projects in their communities and will support:

  • young people 12 to 18 years to reconnect with their community, school, training and/or employment;
  • people with disability to participate in the community, and work towards becoming or remaining independent and engaged in the economy and/or society;
  • women who experience, or are at risk of experiencing, isolation, or discrimination to participate in the community and/or economy, and increase their self-agency; and
  • people who are unemployed to increase participation in the community and/or increase their capacity to engage in employment, training, or existing employment services.

The fourth SARC grant round is open for applications from today through to 20 February 2025.
