Boy Charged for Threatening Armidale Security Guard

A 12-year-old boy will face court after allegedly stealing a knife and threatening a security guard in the state's north west.

About 3:45pm yesterday (Wednesday 6 November 2024), police were called to a shopping centre in Beardy Street, Armidale, following reports of a person armed with a knife.

On arrival, officers attached to New England Police District were told a boy had allegedly threatened a security officer with a knife.

At 8.40am today Thursday 7 November 2024 police arrested the young person at a home in Armidale.

He was charged with armed with intent to commit serious indictable offence, affray, stalk/Intimidate with intent to cause physical harm (two counts) and shoplifting.

He was released on conditional bail to appear before a Children's Court on Monday 18 November 2024
