Detectives from the Sexual Crime Squad have this afternoon charged a boy following an incident where a woman was sexually assaulted on a walking track in Jacana earlier this month.
With assistance from local police, a search warrant was executed at a Roxburgh Park residential address early this morning.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested and subsequently charged with rape, stalking, false imprisonment, common law assault, recklessly cause injury, detention for a sexual purpose and two counts of sexual assault.
He will appear at a children's court.
The charge follows an incident where a woman was running along the path through Jacana Reserve, near Johnstone Street, on the morning of Wednesday, 14 August.
About 11.30am, she heard someone come up behind her. She was allegedly thrown to the ground and sexually assaulted.
The woman was able to get away and ran to the car park, where two passersby assisted and called police.
