An elected LNP Government will provide funding from a revitalised Safer Communities Fund (SCF) to the following organisations:
- Biggenden Women's Shed – $16,000
- Biloela RSL Subbranch – $35,000
- Lifestyle Church in Sun Valley – $257,400
Federal Member for Flynn, Colin Boyce said this funding would help ensure community organisations in the Flynn electorate feel safe as they go about their daily lives.
"This funding is a direct response to the concerns raised by our community. I've heard firsthand from Flynn residents that safety is a priority, and we're responding with practical measures to help make public spaces safer for everyone," Mr Boyce said.
"The funding for the Biggenden Women's Shed will be used to install fencing and gates to the surround of shed. The aim is to help improve the security of the members and to deter break-ins to the facility as there are growing concerns expressed by many residents regarding safety and security.
"In Biloela, the funding for the RSL Subbranch will cover the cost of installation of fencing around three veterans' cottages as well as the installation of front and back door security cameras. This initiative comes in response to an increased number of break-ins in the area and the growing concerns expressed by residents regarding safety.
"I've also heard about the need for more programs to support the youth in the Gladstone region.
"The funding for Lifestyle Church in Sun Valley will be utilised for two projects. $233,400 will be for the Lifestyle Church to partner and run a Red Frogs support program in the Gladstone region. This will consist of local high school lunch time programs, supporting youth and building relationships. Meanwhile $24,000 will be to construct fencing and gates for the area which will enable further protection from break-ins as well as safe play with the basketball area and other outdoor activities."
Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Cyber Security, Senator James Paterson said under a Dutton Coalition Government, the Flynn electorate will be stronger, more secure, and better supported to tackle crime.
"Getting Australia Back on Track means keeping Australia safe - safe for families, safe for businesses, and safe for communities," Senator Paterson said.
"Projects delivered under the Safer Communities Fund will help protect local communities by ensuring they have appropriate security infrastructure in place such as CCTV cameras, alarm systems and security lighting."
The revitalised SCF will build on the programme established by the previous Coalition Government, delivering grant funding to councils, schools, and local organisations to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, enhance security around community spaces, and promote social cohesion.
This commitment is part of the Coalition's plan to strengthen our local communities and get our country Back on Track.
