Detectives are investigating at least four property crime incidents on Brisbane's south and the Gold Coast early this morning, March 19.
At about 2.30am, a group have attempted to break into an Aminya Road tobacconist at Mansfield.
They were unable to gain entry and left in a grey sedan.
Just after 3.30am, police were called to reports of a break and enter at a Broadwater Terrace tobacconist at Redland Bay.
A group gained entry, triggering a security alarm, which caused the group to leave the scene in a grey sedan.
No property was stolen at either incident.
Around 4.20am, three people carrying machetes forced entry to a Kumgum Street convenience store at Jacobs Well.
Once inside, the group accessed a cigarette cabinet.
A nearby resident interrupted the group, who fled in a grey sedan with cigarettes and cash.
Whilst investigating this incident, officers identified a second business, a tobacconist, across the road which had also been broken into.
Police are investigating whether the four incidents are linked.
Investigations continue and police are appealing to anyone with information or footage that could assist investigation to come forward.
