Council will shortly commence works to replace Break O'Day Road Bridge, Glenburn with a brand-new two-lane bridge, capable of supporting an unrestricted load limit, on the existing road alignment.
The project will see Break O'Day Road closed at the bridge for a period of approximately 6 weeks, while the new bridge is constructed, with a total construction program of approximately 9 weeks.
We wish to advise residents that works will commence on 15 May 2023 and that the bridge is expected to be closed from 15 May to 25 June 2023. Some works will be undertaken following the reopening of the bridge with all works expected to be complete by 16 July 2023. Some site establishment works may occur prior to 15 May to ensure that once the bridge is closed works can begin immediately.
Council acknowledges the impact the road closure will have on local residents and users of Break O'Day Road. Over a number of months, Council officers have engaged with the Glenburn community on this project, with Councillors attending community meetings to further understand the impacts of the road closure and to help the community understand the range of factors that Council must consider in making decisions that impact our community.
We aim to complete this project within the expected timeframes and restore access for the community as quickly as possible. We will keep the community updated regularly as the project progresses.
