Police have arrested a man following a break-in at a Golden Grove service station early this morning.
Just after 3am on Sunday 15 September, police were called to a service station on Golden Grove Road after reports of an angle grinder sound coming from the premises.
A few minutes later, alarm activations were received from the property.
Patrols quickly responded and on arrival found two men exiting the store through a hole in the roller shutter.
One suspect ran off through the forecourt but was arrested after a short foot chase. The second suspect got into the driver's seat of a black Subaru station wagon that was parked at the front. Officers tried to stop him from driving, but he reversed the car into bollards and drove off.
Police searched the area with assistance from Dog Operations and PolAir and located the Subaru abandoned on Hannaford Hump Road, Gould Creek.
PD Enzo was able to pick up a track heading east, but it was lost around Airstrip Road and the second suspect could not be located.
The Subaru was reported stolen overnight from Greenwith.
An angle grinder was located at the scene, believed to have been used to gain entry to the premises, and the ATM inside was also found to be damaged.
A 48-year-old man from Holden Hill has been arrested and charged with serious criminal trespass, theft and unlawful possession. He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 31 October.
Police investigations are ongoing and anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at www.crimestopperssa.com.au or on 1800 333 000. You can remain anonymous.
