Construction is officially underway for an exciting nature adventure playground in Brett Park, Drummoyne.
"I am thrilled to have broken ground on an innovative new play space alongside the Bay Run and a short walk from the Drummoyne Swimming Centre," City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna said.
The new playground in Brett Park, at the corner of Tranmere Street and Day Street in Drummoyne, will include a natural play environment that includes tree logs, natural timber, rope elements, boulders, and new plants.
The playground includes inclusive play items such as a swing, water pump, sand digger, and sensory play features.
"I am delighted to see a shared vision, which was guided by community feedback, coming to fruition.
"The revitalised playspace will be an accessible place that is tailored to the unique needs of our community, so that people from all walks of life and abilities can come together and enjoy," Mayor Megna said.
The $650,000 project is jointly funded with $250,000 from the NSW Department of Planning and Environment's Places to Play Program and $450,000 from Council.
The playground is expected to reopen to the community in July 2024, weather permitting.
