Campaspe Shire Council is thrilled to announce that the final stage of the highly anticipated Breen Avenue shared user path is complete, marking a significant milestone for the Kyabram community. The $900,000 stage of the project, designed to enhance both recreation and accessibility has been a long-held community aspiration.
Campaspe Shire Council Acting CEO Michael Sharp said that community input had been vital in the development of the walking track.
"It has been a longstanding community ambition to have this completed and we would like to extend thanks to the community for their patience during the development of this project," Mr Sharp said.
The path will connect Cooma Road and Allan Street with a 1.78km dual cycling and walking track, forming a critical missing link in Kyabram's shared path network. The new track offers a safe, dedicated space for pedestrians and cyclists alike, providing valuable social and recreational benefits, promoting healthier lifestyles and improving the overall connectivity of the town.
Mr Sharp said the project represents Councils commitment to creating accessible and inviting public spaces for all, but urged pedestrians, cyclist and motor vehicle users to be aware of changed traffic conditions at the intersection where users will cross from Cooma Rd to Breen Ave to ensure the safety of all.
"The new walking and cycling path will help bring people together, enhance outdoor recreation opportunities, and support a more connected community," said Mr Sharp.
