Bridge To Brisbane Takes Participants To New Heights

It was another sell-out year for the Sunday Mail Transurban Bridge to Brisbane fun run on Sunday, with 35,000 participants running, jogging or strolling over the Gateway Bridge to raise money for charities across South East Queensland.

The Sunday Mail Transurban Bridge to Brisbane is Queensland's largest fun - and is a rare opportunity for participants to experience the city and the bay from a new perspective - on foot from the peak of the Gateway Bridge.

Roads along the route were closed to traffic for the event, with road safety a major focus of the day. The event's 'command centre' was stationed at Transurban's state-of-the-art Network Operations Centre, where our expert traffic control team monitored everyone's progress over the bridge, along the Inner City Bypass and the rest of the event route.

Event representatives, along with Queensland emergency services and Brisbane Metropolitan Traffic Management Centre were also present, all ensuring the event ran smoothly with minimal impact to motorists travelling on the surrounding road network.

This year, our 400-strong Team Transurban again raised the highest funds - more than $300,000 - for Ronald McDonald House Charities SEQ, helping to fund their emergency accommodation located inside the walls of the Queensland Children's Hospital.

Each year around 500 families from across South East Queensland and northern New South Wales use this emergency accommodation while their children are patients in the hospital's paediatric intensive care unit.

The Sunday Mail Transurban Bridge to Brisbane is the one day of the year where the community gets the chance to race over the iconic Gateway Bridge while it's closed to traffic, taking in those spectacular views of the city and the bay. Thanks to everyone who participated and contributed to a great fundraising effort.
