The Tasmanian Government welcomes the appointment of Jordan River Health to operate a new Medicare Urgent Care Clinic.
The joint Commonwealth and Tasmanian Government Clinic in Bridgewater will expand access to fully bulk-billed care and provide access to vital healthcare faster for the community.
Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Guy Barnett, said the appointment of Jordan River Health means the Clinic is one step closer to providing Tasmanians with the primary care they deserve.
"The Bridgewater Urgent Care Clinic will give Tasmanians living in Hobart's northern suburbs, Brighton, New Norfolk and Southern Midlands another option for their urgent health care needs," Minister Barnett said.
"Urgent Care Clinics provide an important primary care option for Tasmanians who can't wait for an appointment with their regular GP but do not require a visit to the Emergency Department
"This will reduce pressure on the Royal Hobart Hospital and mean Tasmanians can access this fantastic service closer to home.
"Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is all about taking more action, right now, on issues affecting Tasmanians like health."
The Bridgewater Clinic will join the four existing Tasmanian clinics in Hobart (Liverpool Street and Bathurst Street), Devonport and Launceston, which have already seen tens of thousands of patients in their first year of operation.
The Tasmanian Government will continue to work with the Commonwealth Government to ensure this Clinic is up and running and seeing patients as quickly as possible.
