Families and businesses in Bright and Porepunkah are the latest to switch on to fast affordable broadband services on the National Broadband Network (NBN), with more than 2100 premises now able to connect.
Minister for Communications Mitch Fifield joined Senator for Victoria Jane Hume and Liberal Candidate for Indi Steve Martin at the Bright Brewery today to mark the switch on of services.
'It's a pleasure to be here today to announce a further 2100 homes and businesses in Indi can now order NBN services and experience the difference for themselves,' Mr Martin said.
'The NBN will enable our local business owners like the Bright Brewery to grow their customer base in Australia and internationally without having to relocate.'
Senator for Victoria Jane Hume said the rollout in Indi is almost complete, with 99% of premises now able to connect to the NBN's better broadband.
'I am delighted to see the rollout in Indi is powering ahead, with almost 42,000 homes and businesses already connected. I encourage everyone to speak to a retail service provider today to take advantage of this service.'
Minister Fifield said the rollout of the NBN is on the home stretch, with all Australians set to be connected to fast, affordable broadband by 2020, which will deliver real benefits for the community.
'Through the NBN, the Government is ensuring regional towns across Australia like Bright and Porepunkah have the connectivity to run businesses, access online health and education, and stay in touch with family and friends,' he said.
