The Brighton and Legana communities have selected their school logos and uniform colours for their brand-new schools opening in 2025.
Minister for Education, Children and Youth, Roger Jaensch, thanked everyone who provided input into the consultation.
The chosen Legana design incorporates that of a stylised leaf - representing growth and new beginnings. The style and colour of the design also reflects the Aboriginal and farming heritage of the region.
The chosen Brighton design reflects the local landscape across the site and features overlapping mountains and a body of water (Jordan River) close by.
The design also reflects the layout of the buildings on the site and how Aboriginal Tasmanians, the Big River Mob and the Oyster Bay Mob, would come together adjacent to the river.
"Of course, the most important part of building a school identity is still to come, when students, teachers and families walk through the gates and bring the school to life," Minister Jaensch said.
"The Rockliff Liberal Government is committed to providing quality education for our children and young people so they can learn and thrive in their local community.
"Building works for both schools are progressing quickly with both schools on track to welcome their first students in 2025.
"The school logos and uniforms are an important part of the identity of a school. They will help provide a shared sense of community and belonging. When the schools commence they will bring to life the school identity.
"Brighton High School will accommodate up to 600 students and include a multi-purpose hall, performing arts space, and gymnasium.
"Legana Primary School will accommodate up to 350 students and include outdoor learning areas, multi-purpose hall, and an onsite oral health clinic.
"These exciting projects are part of the Rockliff Liberal Government's $254.9 million investment in education infrastructure over the Budget and forward estimates, including $105.8 million in 2023–24."
The consultation surveys received 660 responses with feedback captured from broad sections of the local communities, including children, prospective school parents as well as local educators and community members.
