Floodway replacement works are set to commence in mid-January 2025 at the Dry Creek crossing on Brimblecombe Road, Wellcamp, west of Toowoomba, weather permitting.
Toowoomba Regional Council Construction and Maintenance (Infrastructure Services) portfolio spokesperson, Cr Carol Taylor, said the Brimblecombe Road project was one of nine projects approved under the Betterment program, that supports assets being restored to a more resilient standard, as part of the wider 2022 Flood Recovery Program.
"Brimblecombe Road will be the sixth Betterment project to start in our Region under the 2022 Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA)," Cr Taylor said.
"These works will significantly improve the flood resilience on this section of Brimblecombe Road, which is a vital link for the surrounding community and road users. The improvements will greatly reduce the inconvenience of future flooding disruptions.
"The floodway replacement will require a full road closure during the works, with detour signage in place to direct motorists via the detour routes and ensure safety for all workers and the public.
