The Property Council of Australia today announced the appointment of Nicola Brischetto as its WA Executive Director.
Ms Brischetto joins the peak advocacy body following an extensive career in government, consulting, teaching and the media.
Prior to joining the Property Council, Nicola worked as a Director in the Office of the Chief Executive at the WA Child and Adolescent Health Service, the Deputy Director of the Office of the Chief Executive at the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority, as an executive in the Early Childhood Education Regulatory Authority within the NSW Department of Education and as a Senior Policy Officer at the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority.
Ms Brischetto has also worked as a teacher, communications professional and journalist.
Property Council of Australia Chief Executive Mike Zorbas said he was delighted to appoint Ms Brischetto to the role following an extensive recruitment process.
"Nicola's leadership experience, intellect and warmth will position her well as the champion of our city-shaping WA members and to lead our terrific WA team," Mr Zorbas said.
"Her pedigree in navigating complex policy and regulatory work will make her a powerful advocate for reforms that matter to WA," he said.
WA Division President and Chief Operating Officer of Hawaiian Richard Kilbane welcomed Ms Brischetto's appointment.
"With the issues in planning and housing as they are, and a state election on the horizon, it's a critical time for our sector and for WA more broadly.
"I know Nicola will be a strong and effective voice for our members, and I look forward to her building on the great successes of the WA team in recent years.
"Division Council and I are delighted to work with Nicola and I know she will hit the ground running," he said.
Ms Brischetto said she was thrilled to step into the role.
"It's a privilege to work with an industry that is so critical to the economic strength of the state, and to have the opportunity to lead conversations that matter deeply to the lives of West Australians," Ms Brischetto said.
"I look forward to continuing the positive relationships and solutions-focused work of the Property Council in WA and advocating on behalf of our members on such important matters of public policy," she said.
Mr Zorbas paid tribute to the tremendous work of WA Deputy Executive Director Emily Young, who has served as interim Execuitve Director since December, when the organisation's previous leader Sandra Brewer stood down to seek preselection for the state seat of Cottesloe.
"Emily has served as our interim leader with great skill, passion and pride," Mr Zorbas said.
"Under her leadership, the WA team has continued its great work and the WA Division, our executive and I give her our warmest thanks," he said.
Ms Brischetto will commence in the role on Monday 27 May.
