Broome Detectives have charged a man in relation to a fire at a car dealership in Broome last night, Monday 30 December 2024.
About 7:00pm, a man attended the car dealership on Coghlan Street. It will be alleged he lit a fire at the rear of the dealership.
The fire spread and burnt out a vehicle that was parked nearby, and also caused damage to the dealership's vehicle wash bay infrastructure. It is estimates the fire caused over $100,000 damage.
Just after 9:30pm, a man was arrested at a residence in Cable Beach. He was taken to Broome Regional Hospital for treatment of burn injuries.
The 56-year-old Cable Beach man has since been charged by Broome Detectives with 'Criminal Damage by Fire'. He was refused bail and is due to appear in Broome Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 31 December 2024.
