Brunswick East Ram-raiders Risk Life And One Limb

Detectives are investigating a ram raid and fire at a Brunswick cycling store early hours this morning.

Unknown offenders used a stolen black BMW X5 to ram the garage door of a business on Lygon Street about 2.55am.

It is believed that the offenders used the stolen car to ram the door two or three times, before jumping out of the BMW and entering the store.

The ramming then led to a fire inside the business.

It was reported to police that one of the offenders was spotted fleeing the scene with one of their arms on fire.

The offenders left the stolen vehicle behind and were last seen running towards Nicholson Street.

The fire caused significant damage to the building.

At this stage it is unclear if anything was stolen from the store.

Investigators believe that the BMW was stolen from a Heatherton address on 3 October.

The investigation remains ongoing.
