Budget Delivers Trifecta For Older Australians

Last night the government handed down its 2024 budget and with it several measures to ease cost-of-living pressures.

These included a $300 energy bill relief payment, a 10% increase to Commonwealth Rent Assistance (CRA) and a freeze on deeming rates for a further 12 months - a trifecta for older Australians! NSA was quick to welcome these measures, two of which we called for in our Pre-Budget Submission 2024

These will help to make paying the power, paying the rent and managing the budget just that little bit easier. Great news!

The government also continued its commitment to keep ageing Australians in their homes as long as they are able through the delivery of 24,100 home care packages.

These announcements show the government is listening to the needs of older Australians, and NSA's advocacy work plays a significant part in this.
