Budget Holiday Homes Fit for Diplomats

While holidaying on the Gold Coast may seem unrealistic for many, Air Force has an initiative that allows aviators and their families access to one of Australia's most popular holiday spots at affordable rates.

Owned by the RAAF Central Welfare Trust Fund, the Air Force Holidays program features affordable holiday accommodation in the form of the Gold Coast Ambassador Apartments on Chevron Island.

The apartments are near Surfer's Paradise and offer some of the best beach frontage in Australia.

The health and wellbeing of its people is important to Air Force so making high-quality accommodation available at affordable prices is particularly beneficial to help counter the demands of service life.

Retired Group Captain Rick Phillips has been holidaying there with his family since the mid-1990s and believes it represents great value for money.

"The Ambassador Apartments has provided my family with the opportunity to catch up with family and friends and visit many of the theme parks and attractions on offer," Group Captain Phillips said.

"Noting the cost of living pressures, this accommodation provides a viable holiday option for all in Air Force, as well as their families.

"Getting away from it all, even for a few days, can be so important because it helps us to unwind, get some perspective on life, and nurture our relationships."
