The Lawler Labor Government is making headway on more homes in the bush, with eleven new and upgraded homes delivered in Central Australia and preparations are underway for a new 10-year building program under the new $4 billion remote housing partnership with the Australian Government.
This week seven families received keys to new homes in Finke, marking 18 new homes delivered in the community.
Four families have moved into new and larger homes in Yuendumu and Laramba, reaching 83 new and upgraded homes delivered in these communities since Territory Labor came into Government.
Just last month, Hermannsburg marked the completion of 42 new homes which had been planned in the community.
While four Kalkarindji families have moved into new homes last week. Since 2016, Kalkarindji residents have seen 76 new and upgraded homes delivered in the community.
More upgraded homes are set to be delivered in Atitjere next week, adding to the 33 new and upgraded homes in the community since 2016.
Works for new and upgraded homes continue to be completed across the Territory, while preparation for new homes under the new 10-year remote housing partnership agreement with the Australian Government is underway.
Period panel contracts for ongoing works are now open, seeking contractors to support delivery of modular and blockwork home construction of next ten years across remote communities in the Territory.
These are long term contracts which will promote innovation, enable sustainable local employment opportunities and support sustainability of Aboriginal Business Enterprises for the construction of 270 homes each year in the next ten years across remote communities in the Territory.
