Building future of sport in Tuerong

The sporting community of Tuerong has a new home with the completion of the new RM Hooper Pavilion.

The new fit-for-purpose facility features female changerooms and amenities, a new kitchen and kiosk, first-aid room and additional storage. The build was a new modular assembly and the Shires first modular project. This modern construction style provided a fit-for-purpose pavilion within a few months.

RM Hooper Reserve is the home to 2,100 participants of football, soccer and cricket and the Mornington Peninsula Cricket Association (MPCA) is just one of the local sporting groups that will benefit from the new building upgrade.

The pavilion upgrade will lead to an increase in sports participation at the reserve through additional sports programming as well as supporting women through its new inclusive facilities.

For the redevelopment, the Shire committed $760,000 from its Capital Works Program and secured a $250,000 grant through Sport and Recreation Victoria's Community Sports Infrastructure Fund – Minor Facilities Program and a further $250,000 from the Federal Government.
