It was January 1994 when Wendy Maslin joined Cancer Council WA - then known as the Cancer Foundation of Western Australia – as one of our first Community Liaison Officers, located in Bunbury.
While a lot has changed in the more than thirty years since Wendy joined our team, her commitment to a cancer free future has not.
In her initial role as Community Liaison Officer, Wendy's impact has been felt by thousands of West Australians, allowing them access to our services, programs and vital resources which we're proud to continue today and into the future.
While Wendy eventually moved on from her role as a Cancer Council WA staff member, she has remained an integral part of our community, including over two decades of service to Relay For Life Bunbury, and her tenure as Relay chair, with over $5 million raised across that time.
It's a testament to Wendy's tireless service, that the Wendy Maslin Volunteer of the Year Award has been named in her honour.
From the entire Cancer Council WA family, from staff past and present, through to the lives that her hard work and dedication has supported across thirty years, we'd like to say thank you.
Cancer Council WA cannot continue the vital work that we do without the support of individuals like Wendy Maslin, who volunteer their precious time each year.
To all of our volunteers, your service is an inspiration to us all and gives hope to all West Australian families who need it most.
