Bundilla Beach Transformation - Progress Update

Darwin City Council

The transformation of the Bundilla Beach area is progressing well, with works underway to install recreational elements, including a new skate loop, new exercise nodes and new BBQ and toilet facilities, as well as completing landscaping establishment.

Once complete, the area will see the car park parallel to Atkins Drive transformed into a green space; more public lighting and CCTV installed and a new dog park for the community to enjoy.

The kinetic sculpture, Coriolis, designed to pay respect to the history of Cyclone Tracy and represent the forces of nature affecting the Darwin environment, will also be available for public viewing.

The completion date of Stage One works was extended due to delays incurred through procurement of materials, with the area scheduled to reopen to the public in mid-February 2025, subject to receiving the required materials and weather delays.

These works form the first stage of the Bundilla Beach Masterplan which was created after extensive community and stakeholder engagement and aims to transform Bundilla Beach into a cool, green and natural space that supports leisure and recreation activities.
