Police have charged a man after he allegedly broke into five houses and stole cars between Brassall and Coominya today, Queensland Police say.
It will be alleged at 6.55am a man has stolen a Nissan Navara from a residence on Holroyd Street at Brassall.
A man has attended a farm on the Brisbane Valley Highway at Wanora and attempted to steal a Toyota Hilux however it would not start and the man left in a Nissan Navara.
Around 7.30am police have observed a Nissan Navara on the Brisbane Valley Highway at Fernvale. Police activated lights and sirens however the vehicle accelerated away at speed.
The vehicle was driven to West Road at Coominya where a man was seen leaving the Nissan Navara and stealing a Proton Jumbuck around 7.45am. The Proton was later located at Walnut Crescent at Lowood.
At about 8am a man stole a Holden Commodore from a house in Walnut Crescent. The vehicle was tracked by GPS and stopped at Robyn Terrace at Fernvale.
It will be alleged around 8.30am police attended Robyn Terrace and saw the stolen vehicle parked in the front yard of a house. Police parked in the driveway and a man, who was allegedly trying to break into the house, got into the stolen vehicle and attempted to drive through the front fence before becoming stuck on a garden bed. The man got out of the vehicle and ran into neighbouring bush but was arrested a short time later.
A 43-year-old Inala man has been charged with five counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and burglary, two counts each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, wilful damage and fail to stop and one count each of obstruct police, possession of dangerous drug (Amphetamine), fail to dispose of syringe and receiving tainted property.
The man is expected to appear at the Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow.
