Traffic & Highway Patrol Officers, together with Roads and Maritime Services inspectors, conducted an operation targeting a bus company today, NSW Police say.
A bus belonging to the company was allegedly involved in traffic crash in Northmead yesterday, prompting police to conduct an audit at three of their business locations.
At 10am (22 June 2016), police attached to the Joint Traffic Task Force in company with RMS inspectors, attended three locations in Northmead, Dural and Seven Hills to conduct an audit on buses.
As a result, officers inspected 155 buses and issued one major defect, seven minor defects and one infringement.
The defects included oil leaks, faulty lighting, faulty doors, defective seating and faulty braking systems.
The bus involved in the crash was issued a major vehicle defect for crash damage, worn tyre tread and torn seat coverings.
Commander of the State's Traffic and Highway Patrol, Assistant Commissioner John Hartley, said similar operations will continue to ensure compliance across the industry.
"Bus companies are responsible for transporting hundreds of commuters every day and they are expected to deploy safe practices or risk being taken off the road," he said.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
