Police are advising the Gwydir Highway between Warialda and Delungra is now closed due to a bushfire, NSW Police say.
The Rural Fire Service is currently responding to a bushfire in the area.
Police are on-scene to assist with road closures and traffic diversions.
Initial reports suggest one rural property has been lost to the fire, but all the occupants have been accounted for.
Residents are urged to refer to the Rural Fire Service website https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/ and to local radio for further information.
Motorists are advised to expect delays and to refer to www.livetraffic.com for further information.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
