The hospitality industry is an important part of Tasmania's tourism sector and is ramping up to the busiest time of year.
Minister for Hospitality and Small Business, Jane Howlett, said the hard working hospitality staff are part of the lifeblood of our regions.
"Each year the hospitality industry injects more than $700 million into the economy and it supports more than 8 per cent of the State's jobs," Minister Howlett said.
"Our hospitality workers play a pivotal role in the customer experience and we thank them for the work they do.
"As many of us enter into the peak of the holiday season and the wind down from our daily jobs, our hospitality workers are gearing up.
"They are taking time away from their families and friends so we can spend quality time with ours.
"I want to thank them all for their commitment and dedication and for being on the frontline for Team Tasmania and the positive experience they provide for our visitors, which keeps them coming back for more.
"This is also a good time to remind people to show those workers respect during the silly season.
"No frontline worker should face abuse or assault in their workplace.
"Please, remember to be kind to our hospitality workers, show patience and we can all enjoy the holiday season together."
An important part of the Tasmanian Government's 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is to support workers and employers in the hospitality and small business sector.
