Alongside his fellow builders and Stroud Homes Sunshine Coast staff, Managing Director Daniel Chapman made good on his pledge to plant 15 trees for every home his company has built.
On Friday, June 7, Stroud Homes colleagues joined Sunshine Coast Council's BushCare officers at the Lamerough Creek West Environmental Reserve at Pelican Waters for their third tree planting event this year.
Collectively, they've planted more than 675 native trees as part of the company's reforestation initiative, Forest Link.
These and other tree plantings organised with council's BushCare program contribute to restoring environmental reserves and provide habitat for wildlife across the Sunshine Coast region.
Daniel Chapman's personal passion for the environment is echoed in both his company's efforts, and those of other Sunshine Coast businesses.
"It is extremely important for us to support such an initiative because we are proud of where we live and we want to see it thrive," Mr Chapman said.
"We are a local builder who supports our local community by giving back as much as we possibly can, in any way we can."
Environment Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said BushCare Sunshine Coast was working with companies such as Typefi, AutoGeneral and Zenexus to coordinate corporate planting days and other regular environmental events.
"We're proud to work with our local businesses to make a difference to the environment," Cr McKay said.
"These bushcare activities are not only making a positive impact on our wildlife and natural reserves, this work is great for these groups of staff.
"It's a chance for them all to get out of the office, do something healthy and active, and come together as a team."
BushCare Sunshine Coast offers tree planting and conservation activities for schools and community groups, and recently hosted Peachester State School students at council's Annie Hehir Road Environmental Reserve.
There are also more than 40 volunteer BushCare groups undertaking regular working bees throughout council's environmental reserves on the Sunshine Coast.
Council's BushCare program works to find a location and opportunity that suits any and all groups, whether it's a one-off planting, a big team building event, or regular conservation activities.
