A North Queensland couple's early Sunday morning routine took a thrilling turn when they checked their lotto ticket to discover they had won a division one prize in the Saturday Gold Lotto.
This draw was notable for its unusually high number of winners, distributing the jackpot among 13 players across Australia, including four each from Queensland and Victoria, two from New South Wales, and one each from Tasmania, South Australia, and Western Australia.
As a result, each ticketholder got $401,209.07 from the $5 million top prize which required matching all six numbers.
“My husband happened to check the ticket early and woke me up,” the winning wife from Mackay said when the win was confirmed by a lotto official.
“It’s amazing!
“He normally doesn’t check it until a few days after the draw, but he just said something made him check it. I’m glad he did!
“This stuff doesn’t happen to people like us.
“We’ve played these numbers for a while, but they were just picked randomly, and we kept playing them.
“I think we’ll want to buy a new car and perhaps put the rest in the bank until we decide what to do.
“We have time to decide what we want to do, and we can’t wait.”
The winning numbers for the draw were 13, 30, 18, 24, 27, and 15, with supplementary numbers 41 and 26. You can find the details of this draw here: Thirteen Punters Dilute Saturday Lotto Jackpot
