A Queensland woman's lifelong dream to own a Goldie holiday home is set to become a reality following her million-dollar win in the weekend's Saturday Gold Lotto.
The Redland resident held one of the five division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4487, Saturday 20 July 2024 and won a total prize of $1,012,904.94.
The Capalaba local relayed how her newly made millionaire status came about when speaking to lotto officials on Monday afternoon.
“It’s mind-boggling,” she giggled.
“It still hasn’t sunk in. It feels weird.
“I discovered the win on Sunday afternoon when I got an email from someone at The Lott urging me to check my Gold Lotto tickets. I opened the email, and I thought, ‘Hmm, that’s strange’.
“I ran up the stairs and I quickly looked up the winning numbers from the weekend’s draw. I wrote every single number down one by one. I sat down, checked my ticket, and I just went ‘Oh!’.
“I called my son and his family, and we all celebrated over some drinks on Sunday night. It was lovely.
“The one thing I’ve always wanted my entire life was a holiday home on Rainbow Bay. Now I can do it! It’s unreal.”
Her 25-game QuickPick was purchased at Nextra Capalaba Park News, Shop 133, Capalaba Park Shopping Centre, Cnr Mt Cotton Road & Redland Bay Road, Capalaba.
Nextra Capalaba Park News owner Ray Fanning said he was over the moon to have sold another division one winning entry to add to his tally of 20 major lottery wins.
“It’s great news for our winner, especially during these tough times. We love it when someone local takes home a win. It truly gives us so much joy!” he said.
“We’ve been around for over 30 years, and we’ve sold about 20 division one wins in the past 20 years alone. We’ve got a flurry of plaques on display behind the counter to showcase the wins!
“We always say that no one expects to win division one, but if you try your luck, it could happen.”
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4487 on 20 July 2024 were 30, 23, 29, 17, 25, while the supplementary numbers were 6 and 14.
Across Australia, there were five division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4487 – three in Victoria, and one each in Queensland and New South Wales.
