Byron Shire Council has welcomed the disaster recovery assistance from the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
"While Byron Shire did not receive near the amount of rain that some areas received the deluge was prolonged and this has damaged our road and drain network," General Manager, Mark Arnold, said.
"The DRFA means Council will receive financial support to help with the costs of cleaning up and repairing assets such as roads.
"We are grateful the NSW and Australian Governments have taken into account the impact of the prolonged rain event on the Byron Shire," Mr Arnold said.
While staff are out and about across the Shire assessing damage, residents are also encouraged to also report damage to Council via:
