Cabbage Tree Creek crash

East Gippsland Highway Patrol officers are appealing for public assistance following a crash in Cabbage Tree Creek early Sunday morning.

Investigators believe a gold Ford Falcon Sedan was travelling west along Princes Highway about 4am.

The driver lost control of the car, possibly after hitting an object, which left the road and crashed into a concrete culvert.

The car ended up rolling onto its roof and investigators believe the driver managed to get out of the vehicle and leave the area before the car caught fire.

Police were called to the area a short time later but could not locate the driver even though the area was searched.

The car was not registered at the time of the crash and did not have any registration plates attached.

Investigators wish to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or who may be able to identify the driver.

Anyone with information, dashcam or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
