In a heartwarming show of community spirit, 46 Cabonne residents have taken advantage of the Council's desexing voucher program, securing $5,000 worth of vouchers to ensure their pets are healthy and safe.

Launched during the 2024 Local Government Week, the initiative aimed to support responsible pet ownership by offering residents vouchers to help cover the cost of desexing their cats and dogs. The response was overwhelming, with all available vouchers being claimed within just a few days.

"We're thrilled to see so many residents taking proactive steps to care for their pets," said a Council spokesperson. "Desexing is crucial for the health of our furry friends and helps prevent unwanted litters, reducing the strain on local shelters."

The 46 vouchers issued—covering both cats and dogs—are already making a difference. By partnering with Orange Veterinary Hospital and Cowra Veterinary Centre, Cabonne Council ensured that residents had access to top-quality veterinary care close to home.

One resident, who received a voucher for her female dog, expressed her gratitude: "This program made it so much easier for us to afford desexing, and we're so relieved to know our dog will be healthier and happier."

Council remains committed to supporting the community's pet health needs and looks forward to introducing more initiatives like this in the future.
