Cairns Backs Flying-fox Conservation

Flying-fox protection efforts will continue in Cairns.

As part of ongoing efforts, Council will continue working with the Bats and Trees Society of Cairns (BatSoc), providing $12,600 in funding and up to $7,200 in in-kind support.

This partnership supports local wildlife carers, promotes flying-fox education through events and school talks, and provides resources like baby bat signage and brochures.

By working together, the partnership aims to raise awareness about the ecological importance of flying-foxes, while ensuring the community is connected to conservation efforts.
